She Creates Union
Providing a supportive space for women makers and creators to share and encourage one another, at all stages in their creative journey.
Background
In May of 2018 I met Stacey at her monthly Stitch & Hoot in Elgin, Texas. We were both sharing about things we were trying to figure out for our own small creative businesses, and how cool it would be to have a local group for women makers and artists whose sole function was to fully support each member creatively, and help each other navigate branding, social media, marketing, and general business best practices… long story short, She Creates Union was born.
Early on we realised we needed a simple, easy to manage site that allowed us to highlight our members, mission and events information. We wanted to provide a single space for the wider community to discover their local makers and creators.
In recent months, unable to host our events in person, we ran a virtual market. I developed the site to be able to display vendor information, tutorials, video and IGTV. Over the space of the weekend we had 356 new users, viewing over 2000 pages.
My role
- Planning a simple structure for the site
- User interface design
- Site build using wordpress
- Virtual online marketplace design and development
My time on this project was given freely and I continue to manage the site.
